Hello, this is my first document written in open office.
I used to write doc in Microsoft Office series which means Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
I love open source, and I would like to find out what is the real one which would be widely used.
Finally I find that it is OK to use either of them, actually I think Open Office can replace Microsoft Office. The only question is the private format, with the help of ITU open office format, I think it is possible to be compatible to all existing word/excel/powerpoint docs with a converter.
Because Open Office is free and no fee, I would like to believe Open Office will replace the market which occupied by Microsoft now.
But another question comes to life, how about google apps/docs and other online docs such as zoho and thinkfree, they can provide the online Office or even the online & off line Office. Although the online office cannot provide such complex operations and formats of off line Office, but the trend shows that online office is getting stronger and stronger, I happen to foresee if one day most useful operations and formats could be provided by online Office, what would happen?
I think Microsoft has find this problem and it is trying to provide the online office in the near future which is announced by next version of Office. Although it only can provide online storage for Office now.
But Open Office is staying in its own old garden, it is terrible news if any. Forward or backward, what do you want?
What's going on, I'm watching on!
